What to Know about Zoom Whitening
Zoom whitening is a powerful in-office bleaching process that uses a patented 25 percent peroxide solution combined with a special light. Our Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist can use Zoom whitening to eliminate stains from dark-colored foods, wines, coffee, tea, cola, medications or smoking. During the procedure, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music.
If you are a candidate for Zoom whitening, our dentist will begin with a comprehensive dental exam. Your teeth and gums should be healthy and free of decay, sensitivity or gum disease, which could affect the outcome of your treatment. A professional cleaning will be performed to remove any buildup that could affect the penetration of the whitening solution.
The gums and soft tissues of the mouth will be covered completely to prevent unnecessary exposure to the gel or the light, and then the Zoom gel will be painted onto the teeth. The Zoom light is applied to the teeth several times at 15-minute intervals to maximize stain reduction. Once the whitening treatment has been completed, a fluoride treatment is applied to reduce the risk of sensitivity.
Zoom whitening can be used on its own, or it can be used as a part of a smile makeover along with other treatments, such as Invisalign or porcelain veneers. Avoid drinking hot coffee or tea, drinking wine or eating dark foods for one to two days after Zoom when teeth are may be more prone to staining. Maintain your results by brushing twice daily, flossing daily and touching up as needed.
